These London chocolate strawberries are a popular treat sold at Borough Market. They come in a long plastic cup, filled with fresh strawberries and covered in warm, melted milk chocolate. That's it - no drizzle, no extras, just simple and delicious.
I paid over ยฃ8 for one cup, which felt like a lot for what it is. But they looked great and tasted even better. The good news? You can make the same thing at home for way less. Check out more copycat recipes like Panera Black Bean Soup or Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese.

Recipe ingredients

This London chocolate strawberry recipe is all about the strawberries and the chocolate, so they both really have to be good.
Strawberries: Use the best you can find - fresh, ripe, and in season. It makes a big difference. Try more strawberry desserts like Strawberry Rhubarb Compote or Strawberry Turnovers.
Chocolate: Same for the chocolate. Go for a good-quality milk chocolate, one you already love eating on its own. If you want the chocolate strawberries a bit less sweet, try mixing half milk and half dark chocolate.
Oil: I add a little oil to the melted chocolate to make it smooth, shiny, and to keep it softer for longer. Make sure to use a neutral-tasting oil like canola or vegetable oil, so it doesn't change the chocolate's flavor.

How to make London chocolate strawberries?

Step #1: Halve or quarter the strawberries, depending on size.

Step #2: Place them in a glass, the size of your choice.

Step #3: Chop the chocolate and melt it in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Make sure the bowl doesn't touch the water.

Step #4: Stir the chocolate until smooth. Add the oil.

Step #5: Start pouring the chocolate over the strawberries in the glasses.

Step #6: Fill them with as much chocolate as you like.
How to serve them?
London chocolate strawberries are meant to be eaten right away while the chocolate is soft and melty. If you leave them for longer, the chocolate will set. They'll still taste great, but the texture changes.
If you have leftovers, take the strawberries out of the container and put them on a plate. Use a rubber spatula to scrape any melted chocolate left in the container over the strawberries. Then, place them in the fridge - the chocolate will set, and you can enjoy them later with a different texture.
