Hot dog pasta is a favorite childhood dish; I used to eat something very similar when I was a kid, and I've been making this creamy version for my kids for years. It's perfect for serving at children's birthday parties, too. While there's always that one picky eater, the rest will definitely adore this pasta with hot dogs.

Recipe ingredients
Hot dogs, also known as frankfurters or wieners, have German or Austrian roots, but they are popular pretty much everywhere. I usually use pork hot dogs, but chicken hot dogs work just as well in this recipe. You can also make this Sauerkraut Sausage Soup using them.
Pasta of your choice: Any short pasta will work.
Liquid ingredients: Heavy cream and chicken stock.
Frozen peas and one large bell pepper (red or yellow).
See the recipe card for the full recipe and ingredient quantities.
Variations
To make it cheesy, add grated cheese, such as cheddar, parmesan, or mozzarella at the end of the cooking time and stir well. Allow the cheese to melt.
Other veggies: While peas are probably one of the best veggie choices for kids, you can replace them with different vegetables like chopped tomatoes or zucchini, sliced mushrooms, diced carrots, green onions, or broccoli florets.
How to make hot dog pasta?
Prepare ingredients: Slice the sausages and chop the pepper.
Step #1: Cook the hot dog pieces in olive oil in a large pot until golden.
Step #2: Add the tomato paste and stir for one minute.
Step #3: Add pasta, vegetables, liquids, and all the spices.
Step #4: Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low, and place the lid on top, leaving a crack open. Cook for 12-15 minutes, occasionally stirring, until the pasta is al dente. Check.

Tips
Cooking liquid: The pasta should be barely covered with liquid, so the exact amount of chicken stock you need depends a bit on the size of your pot.
Consistency: If the hot dog pasta sauce is too thin, remove the lid completely for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking to let the liquid thicken a bit more. Add a little more stock if the dish seems too dry before the cooking is finished.
How to store and reheat?
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop. If reheating on the stovetop, add a bit of milk, cream, or stock, stir well, and reheat, preferably, in a non-stick saucepan, while often stirring.
