Cool off this summer with these easy orange popsicles! Made with fresh oranges, buttermilk, and honey, they’re a tangy and refreshing frozen treat the whole family will love.
Squeeze the oranges and pour the juice into a bowl.2 cups orange juice
Mix: Add the buttermilk (or yogurt) and vanilla extract. Stir in honey, starting with 3–4 tablespoons, then adjust to taste.1½ cups buttermilk + ½ teaspoon vanilla extract + 4-5 tablespoons honey
Freeze popsicles: Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and insert sticks. Freeze for 4–6 hours or until solid.
To unmold: Run the molds under warm water for a few seconds, then gently remove the popsicles (Note 5).
Notes
Popsicle molds: Silicone molds are great because they’re flexible and make it easy to remove the popsicles, while plastic molds work perfectly too.
How many oranges? I needed 4, but it depends on how large and juicy they are. Buy one more than you think you might need, just to make sure you have enough juice.
Variations: Swap oranges for lemon or lime - just check sweetness and adjust if needed.
Dairy: Use orange yogurt for a sweeter, creamier version. You can also use plain yogurt or full-fat Greek yogurt, sour cream, or quark.
Storage: Keep the popsicles in their molds in the freezer and remove them only when you’re ready to eat. They can stay frozen for several weeks without noticeable changes.
